João Andreazzi
João’s career has been dedicated to the research on body language and its senses. A citizen from São Paulo, João Andreazzi began his working career in the 80s as an actor, performer, dancer and choreographer. In 1990, he began researching the body and to devote himself to dance teaching. He choreographed the performances Película da Retina, Dark Lady, Aventurança, Yorick and As Últimas Tentações de Santo Antão. João lived in the Netherlands, under a scholarship provided by the Education Department at the School for New Dance and Development in Amsterdam, between 1996/98 when he created three choreographies for the Melkweg Theater: Under One’s Very Eyes, Password: 003 and Shoot in the Hood. One of them was selected for the 1998 Nederlandse Dansdagen. On his return from Holland, in 1999, he developed the project Things – m@loc@/F@vel@ – as Coisas where he included the Hip-Hop, samba and Guarani Indians cultures. This initial contact led to the Corpos Nômades project. At the end of the process Cia. Corpos Nômades came to light with the OOZE/EZOO (2000) performance that, inspired on poems by Samuel Beckett fused contemporary dance with elements of hip-hop and video art. Since then, João’s curriculum merges with the one Cia. Corpos Nômades, and he has signed all choreographies ever since. As a choreographer and dancer John Andreazzi won several awards (APCA, Mambembe indication, Flávio Rangel, CAPES Scholarship, Vitae Scholarship for the American Dance Festival, etc.). As a contemporary dance teacher (creation, improvisation and technique) João has been teaching at various locations since 1990.
