An Amazing Bingo Tour of the Secret Society of Pataphysics
Literature and surrealism make up the dance show of Cia Nomadic Bodies
It was created from the myth of Dr. Faust, visited by the writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in the works Zero, 01 and 02 – Dr. Faust, written throughout his life and later developed by Alfred Jarry in Dr. Faustroll, published posthumously in 1911, the history of this last show of the Nomad Corps is centered on the “founder” character of Pataphysics (science of imaginary solutions and laws that regulate exceptions), which was born at the age of 63. Dr Faustroll’s Eternal Flight in the Obscure Clarity of Air – An Incredible Bingo Navigation of the Secret Society of Pataphysics.
In the latest work, where dancers / actors conduct games, challenges and even an invitation to the public to participate in a bingo competition. “The nonsense present in the work makes of Dr Faustroll a player, presenter, host and clown, in search of eternity and the absolute.
Surrealism, a frequent feature of the company’s work, is evident both in the scenic setting and in the choreography, which involves dancers with unusual costumes and masks. “In the assembly, we sought to project the notion / image to the body of the interpreter, the faustrolle, pataphysic, surrealistic junction and the various quotations and navigations contained in Jarry’s work,” explains Andreazzi.
This work refers to the work Gestas and Opinions of Doctor Faustroll, Pataphysico – Romance Neoscientifico, in which there is a division of 8 books and 41 chapters. The book was written by Alfred Jarry, translated by Eclair Almeida and traces a rich and eclectic universe of references to art, science, pafophysics and the imaginary of existence and the human soul.
The works written by Marlowe, Thomas Mann and Fernando Pessoa, which were inspired by the myth of Dr. Fausto, were also researched and used as inspiration during the creation process.
In order to elaborate this spectacle, Có. Nomadic Bodies counted on the important contribution of the 20th Municipal Program of Promotion to the Dance of São Paulo, Municipal Secretary of Culture of SP; and for the activities of the ten years of the SCENIC Space The PLACE in 2017, with the partnership of “O Boticário na Dança”, through Proac ICMS, Secretary of Culture of the State of São Paulo and Government of São Paulo.
The soundtrack is composed of pieces of music that were performed by DJ Thiago Duar, such as: Carmen Miranda, Greetchen, Operas that used the theme of Dr. Fausto, Miriam Makeba, Quiça-Quiça (Perhaps-Perhaps) and other composers , mixed with the Guilherme Mendonça (Guizado) trumpet.
