In the year 2000 the dancer, director and choreographer John Andreazzi decides to rename his John Andreazzi Ccompany established in 1995 as CORPOS NÔMADES (Nomad Corps), thus Cia. Corpos Nômades. A contemporary dance company in the city of São Paulo that aims to act in the forming, creating and disseminating contemporary performing arts.
In 2007, Espaço Cênico LUGAR – Cia. Corpos Nômades is inaugurated, the headquarters and cultural center of a company that contributed to the revitalization of the area in São Paulo City known as “Baixo Augusta” (Lower Augusta).
All works by Cia. Corpos Nômades aim at experiencing the wide range of possibilities of body expression, involving multiple languages besides contemporary dance, such as theater, literature, video art, music and performance installations. The contribution of public funding to ART allows this Company, as it does to many other artists concerned with thinking and doing contemporary art, the possibility of researching and experimenting whereby with a minimum the most is done. The maintenance of pertaining laws, incentive programs and sponsorship is vital to the artistic and cultural development of the country.
